Toyota Corolla Mechanical Steering Rack OE Guide

Four catalogue records cover two published Corolla application groups. This guide shows what the records share, where they differ, and what still requires a physical check.

Published July 28, 2026 · Catalogue comparison based on currently published KITLAMT records
Short answer: an overlapping OE number does not, by itself, prove that two catalogue records are interchangeable. Match the production range, LHD/RHD position, complete OE group, original label, housing, input, mounts, and connection layout before ordering.

These are catalogue identities, not a declaration that every listed number can replace every other unit. The current public records intentionally withhold unverified numeric dimensions, ratios, spline counts, and travel values.

2001 records: shared OE, separate catalogue identity

The two 2001 records both publish OE 45510-12280 and LHD. The KL-YX8817 record also publishes 45510-01185, 45510-02180, and 45510-02070, while the KL-YX8898 record is identified by its separate KITLAMT catalogue code.

Because the public data does not establish a physical interchange rule between the two catalogue codes, the safe process is to keep both identities separate until the installed unit is checked. Compare the complete label first, then the housing profile, input-shaft area, mounting points, and both ends.

2007-2013 records: overlapping OE group

The two 2007-2013 records both publish 45500-02130, 45500-02300, and 45510-12390. The KL-YX8815 record additionally publishes 45510-02142. Both are recorded as LHD mechanical steering racks for the Corolla / Levin 2007-2013 application field.

The extra OE reference does not automatically make one record a universal replacement for the other. A buyer should verify the original label and physical layout, and keep the catalogue code attached to the enquiry so the supplier can check the intended record.

What to photograph before requesting a fitment check

EvidenceWhat it helps distinguish
Complete original labelThe full OE number, suffix, manufacturer code, and any secondary line.
Full rack from above and belowHousing route, overall construction, and hidden mounting features.
Input-shaft areaInput position, angle, spline area, and surrounding casting.
Mounting pointsBracket form, hole position, and subframe interface.
Left and right endsEnd construction, boot area, and relative layout.
Do not infer a missing measurement from another Corolla record. If the original unit or a traceable technical source has not confirmed a dimension, keep the comparison open.

Information to include in the enquiry

  1. Vehicle model and production year.
  2. Sales country or market.
  3. LHD confirmation from the driver’s position.
  4. Complete OE label and all readable suffixes.
  5. KITLAMT catalogue code for the page being requested.
  6. Clear photographs of the original unit.
  7. Quantity and delivery destination.

If the label is unclear, use the OE number identification guide. For a structured commercial request, use the steering rack RFQ checklist.
