Short answer: a mechanical steering rack is the cross-vehicle steering gear connected toward the road wheels. A steering column runs from the steering wheel toward the steering gear. A page for one assembly should not be described as the other.

Do not classify a part from shorthand alone
Legacy abbreviations, file names and search-result wording are not physical evidence. The useful evidence is the complete original label, installed location, housing form, mounting layout, connection points, steering position and vehicle record.
An electric-assist system elsewhere on the vehicle does not turn every steering component into an EPS column. Identify the assembly shown on the page and the assembly removed from the vehicle.
